LuppArt Mission Statement

Ever since the establishment of the LuppArt Foundation in 2015 we have been striving to provide inspiration to those invested in art and artmaking. This is why we have chosen to set up our Residency Programme in the unique and picturesque landscape of Luppa Island, a small piece of land on the river Danube just a few kilometres outside Budapest. The natural landscape of the island boasting beautiful vistas of abundant greenery and tranquil stretches of water is speckled by a handful of small houses reminiscent of Bauhaus architecture. Luppa Island thus presents the ideal environment for artistic creation, contributing to our ultimate aim of being a source of inspiration.

Call for Artists: LuppArt Residency 2024

The Jó Természet Foundation hereby invites tenders for the LuppArt Residency Programme. Following the success of its first few years, from 2018 onwards the LuppArt colony (est. 2015) introduces a new tender and invitation-based application system for its Residency Programme. Alongside invited residents, the programme can now be accessed by young graduate artists through the application process.
Venue: 37 Platán alley, Luppa Island, Budakalász, 2011, Hungary
Dates: 29 July 2024 – 25 August 2024
Applicants may determine the duration of their residency, choosing from the following terms: 1 week, 2 weeks.

Luppa Island

Luppa Island is a small piece of land on the river Danube, a few hundred meters north of Budapest’s administrative border between the town of Budakalász and the island of Szentendre. The eight-hundred-meter-long and, at the widest part, approximately two-hundred-meter wide, spindle-shaped island has been transformed and shaped by the deposits of the river.
